#patreon requires that I verify my legal identity to prove that I am #18plus and that everyone in my content is 18+, and even though the entire point of my videos is that "female-looking nipples aren't sexually explicit NSFW nudity if male-looking nipples aren't" and therefore shouldn't be qualified as #adultOnly , I know that Patreon is beholden to the blatant sexism and misogyny of the payment vendors they use for payouts so they're unlikely to honor my request to remove my account's 18+ only categorization (even when I pre-censor all my public posts to Patreon).
I'm still nervous that this might just put a target on my Patreon account though, as I've had issues with them banning my content as "sexually explicit nudity" in the past (you can read about that here: https://www.toplesstopics.org/patreonban/ ) Patreon has been making some efforts to be more #sexWorker friendly of late, opening themselves to feedback from adult content creators, I guess because they got blowback for joining the anti-sex worker brigade. It sure would be nice to have an alternative way of raising funding outside of using actual porn sites that take massive cuts from everything like #OnlyFans .
But I've been at this whole "fighting for topless equality through repeat exposure" thing for almost a full decade now, and every year just seems to get WORSE (especially since the passing of FOSTA-SESTA, holy crap). So I'm not sure.
Given that all my videos are banned from monetization (when they're not banned outright), sponsors won't reply to my inquiry emails, and I pulled my artistic nude digital photography from Etsy because it was costing more to keep up the listings than I was making, donations through Patreon are quite literally the only way I can make ANY money off my content at all (all of which goes towards improving video quality, paying for editing software and website hosting, etc...I don't get to keep a cent of it for my endless hours of actually making the content). Even still, I'm lucky to make $300 a month, which barely even covers my software subscription costs, let alone afford to hire any outside help with the logistical crap so I have more time for actually making new videos.
But if Patreon looks at my verification and decides to go "actually, we've decided to ban you overall," there goes even that little bit of funding.
Oh well. If only I made content that was more capitalism-friendly, like bikini yoga or advocating for white nationalist anti-trans legislation 🙃
