These hypercapitalist ghouls want to make you into nothing but a walking wallet and find a way to monetize everything you enjoy. “Fans” are just “consumers” to them.
The 3 largest fanfic sites - AO3, Fanfiction. net, and Wattpad - get 3B annual visits in the U.S. alone. They're in the top 300 sites in the U.S., and AO3 is #100 globally. Imagine how much bigger this market could be if you could chat with characters vs. reading static stories?
When my mom passed away we discovered that for ~50 years she had kept a sealed box filled with thousands of comic books we’d collected as kids. When we opened it we were stunned at how well-preserved the books were. One of the best: a mint copy of the first issue of Captain America in his own book.
@allflooby I actually have a whole run of this comic, from #100 to #108 and they’re all in great condition. I’ve had a few comics graded, but it’s gotten so expensive now!
