seems noteworthy here that they notified him of the elimination of his department allegedly for budget reasons literally the same day they put out a press release bragging about the $250k grant he’d just brought in!

This is nuts. I’m an alum of WVU and it’s really sad to see such narrow minded, and heartless actions being taken there. Eliminating a linguistics department at the relative dawn of language-based AI is super….stupid.
