@w7voa I actually agree with paying for the services we consume. The ad-supported model is evil and largely responsible for how horrible social networks are (and by extension for a significant portion of the damage they are inflicting on society).
We should be the clients of these companies. Instead of being the product that is being sold to their real clients, the advertisers.
Note that I don't trust Twitter to do this right. Musk will probably give its users the worst of both worlds.

@w7voa There's one good thing that might come from all this. It should reduce the traffic on his hate site, populated with paid-up bigots. It hurts every time I think about it (being an ex-Twitter user who had an account for over a decade). But Mastodon is a much better place. Enjoy the fall, Elon. You've earned it.
@w7voa So the next business model he's trying is the large-scale bot sales. $1k/yr is a bargain for state actors that get 1000 bots with privileged access.
