@w7voa To me it would be fine if Twitter died, what I'm getting sick of is twitter trying to drag down every other website with it.

Stuff like this only proves to me that the destruction of the birdsite was what the #ElongatedMuskrat intended right from the start

@w7voa "The reply is always more or less the same: If Twitter is really dying, why are you still posting on it?" Golly, I don't know, I left almost a year ago and am STILL happy I did!

@w7voa To be fair, even before Musk took over the company, I was wondering how much longer it would exist. It was yet another tech bro endeavor that went like:

  1. Create a website where users share things with each other all for free.
  2. Make up the cost of supporting millions of users by selling advertisements and marketing information
  3. When you are not making enough on the advertisements to make a profit then you ...

Yeah, I get it, but they are still propping it up.
Leaving is the appropriate thing to do, unless you are actually researching collapsing social media platforms and just observing

Say what you want about that foul site, but you have to acknowledge that there were a group of people that thought that it was worth forty-four billion dollars to undermine its political power.

ELoon has harmed democracies around the world, but I'm heartened to see that enough people care that it has made a noticeable difference in how many cars Tesla can expect to sell.

Jayslacks,

@w7voa Has it only been a year? It feels so much longer.

@w7voa Boy I hope so. And I hope #mastodon takes over. It is a much better platform.

pop_justy,

@w7voa > Who could fail to be entertained by such a saga of self-destruction?

Plenty of self-destruction all around. It’s not entertaining, it’s sad. A lot of engineers put a ton of time and effort into Twitter and a single manchild has destroyed all of it.

There’s nothing entertaining about that. Too many people trying to get a moments high off of schadenfreude is partly the issue with social media in general.
