The project is a stepping stone that introduces the Transonic Truss-Braced Wing, which has the potential to decrease emissions in single aisle aircraft by 30%, and is an experimental model from which fuel-saving methods can be learned and then implemented into other aircraft. The ultimate goal is to be net-zero emissions by 2050.

Gotcha...definitely clickbait material. But what's really cool is they introduced it at EAA which takes place here in Wisconsin. I have yet to go, but the expo is every year. I'll have to make an effort to go sometime in the next few years.
