We did our best, and even though @devonblack did not win the nomination for the NDP candidacy for Saanich-Gulf Islands, we have learned a lot and will be ready for the challenges ahead. #BCpoli

@trishalynn @devonblack This is gross too. BC NDP is responsible for killing my Dad. #CovidKillers #FireBonnieHenry

BC NDP approved more clearcuts under shorter timespan than BC Liberals & I hated BC Libs.

Why are you pimping more colonialism destruction???

@trishalynn I need to know because I'm strongly ANTI- #BCNDP - John Horgan & then Eby shady undemocratic kingmaking was my LAST STRAW! I need you to be honest - here, about this. Several of us won't ever support BC NDP ever again - for more than a few solid reasons. I'm very upfront on where & why I stand.

@msquebanh Sorry for not seeing your messages till now. I did not intentionally ignore you.

I don't work for the NDP, but I did volunteer for someone who was running for the NDP nomination for the Saanich-Gulf Islands federal riding. I decided to volunteer for her nomination campaign because we share a lot of the same ideals and because I think she's the kind of candidate who is looking to enact lasting social and political change.

If this disclosure means we can't be mutuals, I understand.

@trishalynn I understand that & appreciate you explaining as it really threw me when I saw what seemed to look like endorsements for BC NDP. I volunteered to try to help Anjali & that was my last BC NDP straw. That party is dead to me now - for multiple valid reasons.

trishalynn,
@trishalynn@mastodon.sandwich.net avatar

@msquebanh I'd heard about this while I was learning about how they do phone banking. Looking back on it, what do you think Anjali's campaign could have done differently to be more effective in challenging for leadership?

msquebanh,
@msquebanh@mastodon.sdf.org avatar

@trishalynn BC NDP did phone banking tons & they are hypocrites.

msquebanh,
@msquebanh@mastodon.sdf.org avatar

@trishalynn Not really, as BC NDP caucus was hellbent on ensuring Horgan's kingmaker plans wasn't to be interrupted & they benefit, personally, under continued status quo crap. What BC NDP did was lose a lot more folks who would've supported them, had they not pulled fugly kingmaker moves. I called that move out - 1.5 yrs before it happened & also predicted Horgan would lie about retirement & work for ecocide company, after one last big lie to public.

trishalynn,
@trishalynn@mastodon.sandwich.net avatar

@msquebanh So you think that there's nothing her campaign could have done because the parliamentary rules of meetings and how the elections process within political campaigns are run is also flawed?

msquebanh,
@msquebanh@mastodon.sdf.org avatar

@trishalynn Correct. I believe even if all protocols were adhered to - which BC NDP doesn't do themselves - she was done for because caucus holds too much power & even people who disagree are scared to voice out because they're also protecting their own pensions. It is all so damn sleazy.

trishalynn,
@trishalynn@mastodon.sandwich.net avatar

@msquebanh I don't doubt that your reasons are very valid. There are definitely many things that I would prefer in a political party and there are also very many things that I wish the party in my native country (the U.S.) would change about itself. However, generally speaking, I'm a Minnesota Democrat with progressive leanings and there are not any parties (in the U.S., Canada, or elsewhere) that exactly encapsulate what I would prefer in a political system of government.

@trishalynn I've given up on govts I can trust & believe in, in my lifetime. I focus on doing pockets of progressive community grassroots actions because we get a shit ton more great things done, while govt ppl keep trying their best to uphold status quo nonsense that only benefits the privileged. I worked under both BC Liberals & BC NDP govts. Both are corrupt & rotten. Both are against grassroots activism & both tried jailing us who have worked almost our whole lives to fight for justice
