Sentinel-2 satellite view of Lee's Ferry on 4-21-2024. (not high enough resolution to pick out a raft, person, or Corgi -- or even a Toyota Tacoma). #satellite #RemoteImaging

Yikes, you can see the rapids from space... Not far from Lee's Ferry. That homemade raft is no match for this one....

Hmm, I wonder what the CFM is right now. There are quite a few very robust rapids even visible from the space imaging. #GrandCanyon #rapids

Soap Creek Rapids is the very first rapid that guy would have hit... here's someone in a kayak fighting that one... I'm not sure that homemade raft would do so well... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kW7vr3JNGOU #GrandCanyon #rapids

@ai6yr oh geeze. That poor dog.

@tsherrygeo @ai6yr Really. 11-yrs-old and little corgi legs, and canyon might not have places to haul out.

@ai6yr@m.ai6yr.org avatar

@CStamp @tsherrygeo There's a few spots the corgi might have gotten out, maybe they hope those two got stuck on a sandbar. Though, I wonder how many trips are running right now.

@ai6yr @tsherrygeo I hope they're safe. There was mention of "Water flowing down the Colorado River from Glen Canyon Dam takes less than three days to reach Lake Mead," so fingers crossed that their bodies aren't stuck or submerged for some reason and they'll either suddenly show up or will be found stranded. One might think the wood would float and be found if the raft broke. Hopefully the fellow will have an adventure story to tell.

@ai6yr Amy rapids you can see from space are more than I’d want to tangle with even in a proper boat.

VirginiaHolloway,

@ai6yr That is in no way, shape, or form, a "raft" I would take out onto a placid lake in the middle of summer.

@ai6yr I'm not sure a few boards held together with a ratchet strap qualifies as a 'raft'
