Switch to a straightedge razor blade more than a year ago has been very economical; $8.99 (+tax) for more than a year's worth of razor blades. Take that, stupid #plastic#disposable#razors! (also: WAAYYY better shave).
If you don’t make them a collectible hobby and just use them as pens, fountain pens are way better for the environment (and your pocketbook). You’ll never have “just 1 or 2” ballpoint pens - likely you’ll have a whole drawer or mug of them. In contrast when you use fountain pens you’ll find they don’t multiply (again unless you go the collectible route).
@ai6yr At gouletpens.com check out their starter #fountainpens - Lamy, Pilot Metropolitan and TWSBI are all good. You’ll need to pick nib width. If you get one that takes ink cartridges vs piston fill then get a compatible converter that will allow you to use jar ink. As far as ink goes that’s a religious discussion but your choices are basically what color do you want and whether you want waterproof or not. @ai6yr I've been keeping my woodworking edge tools scalpel-sharp all my life, so why not disposable razors? I typically get a year out of a Gilette Fusion blade by stropping it on denim every week or so.
