@ai6yr Not a fun remembrance: being at the top of Sycamore Canyon July 26, 1977 9:30 pm at a friend’s house and told to evacuate by police with loud bullhorns. By the time I got to the bottom of the Canyon 234 homes were gone. That’s why you see all red roofs. Everything was rebuilt with tile-like fire resistant roofs. They were all shake roofs in 1977.

Rural life is different.

@phpete I am pretty sure most departments here will refuse to cross a non-State or County certified bridge with their (very heavy) vehicles.

We lived in Houston for 3 years (which was long enough) and every neighborhood was full of retention ponds and levees. And everything still flooded.
