johnshirley2024,

Who knows indie record (as we used to call them) labels? What indie label might be interested in something that resembles Social Distortion, the Bad Seeds, Lou Reed, with a touch of southern rock? There's a new demo...

@johnshirley2024 the bandcamp route is indeed there. You can also find a lot of current indie labels there. Bandcamp has its own problems now, but at the moment it's still a great option

@johnshirley2024 I think many indie artists now go direct through something like Bandcamp rather than bother with labels.

@johnshirley2024 Tell them to just release it themselves. There’s nothing an indie label can do for them today that they can’t do for themselves.

@kopper @johnshirley2024 Yes you CAN do it all yourself, the question is do you want to and is it worth your time and money?

It's really hard to just do it all yourself from the back of a van going to the next town to do a show.

Before you sign a contract you find out what they are giving you and what you give in return. Being able to think about music instead of trying to get your money out of paypal has an actual value. Just don't overpay for it.

johnshirley2024,

@mikej @kopper They've done their share of "self published albums". They need support for gigs and at least some publicity.
