cosmos4u,

In less than 12 hours the first launch window for the first flight test of a fully integrated and Super Heavy rocket opens which goes from 12:00 to 14:30 UTC. A webcast should begin around 11:15 UTC on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5QXreqOrTA - and in the meantime see https://www.spacex.com/launches/mission/?missionId=starship-flight-test for the basic facts, https://nitter.net/nkknspace/status/1647207659077251073 for an infographic and https://skyweek.wordpress.com/2023/04/16/allgemeines-live-blog-ab-dem-16-april-2023/#Apr17 for many more links.

cosmos4u,

The first launch attempt of the #Starship / Super Heavy stack has just been delayed by one hour to 13:00 UTC: https://twitter.com/SpaceX/status/1647767704177192961 - the webcast https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5QXreqOrTA should now begin at ~12:00 UTC.

cosmos4u,

The chat https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7AYhkAjXT34 between Musk and some fans last night about the #SuperHeavy is worth listening to: he thinks the rocket is more difficult to fly than the Soviet N1 - which never worked - and „success is not what we expect tomorrow, that would be insane“ ...

cosmos4u,

The official #SuperHeavy / #Starship lauch attempt #webcast https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5QXreqOrTA will begin shortly! T-zero is 13:20 UTC currently. Other webcasts are already running at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eN57x2a_waw and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BpqULvjOMz4 and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gkjPJFSGyn8

cosmos4u,

Als Elon himself reports on a certain site: "A pressurant valve appears to be frozen, so unless it starts operating soon, no launch today" ... so today's #SuperHeavy activities turned - https://twitter.com/johnkrausphotos/status/1647951847242571780 - into a Wet Dress Rehearsal, with the countdown running down to almost zero.

cosmos4u,

As can be seen in https://www.spacex.com/launches/mission/?missionId=starship-flight-test the #Starship is now aiming at a launch window on Thursday, 20 April, from 13:28 to 14:30 UTC. And here is the nicest picture from non-launch day: https://twitter.com/erikkuna/status/1648040488790814730

cosmos4u,

35 minutes til the next #Starship launch attempt, and the clock is ticking - webcast beginning now at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1wcilQ58hI

cosmos4u,

Some key scenes (from independent cameras) of the #Starship launch edited together: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THkSvpyoJ20 - the stack reached an apogee of 39 km but the staging failed and it had to be blown up when it has fallen back to 29 km altitude. A lot was learned, and in a few months we should see the next test.

cosmos4u,

The #Starship's short maiden flight, lift-off to RUD, from even more camera angles: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zw0akWuUu7c

cosmos4u,

The #Starship's short and exciting flight as seen from an airplane: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZutX1PP0BQ - meanwhile assessments of what was achieved are evolving, especially since extensive damage to the launch pad, potentially playing a role in so many Raptor engines failing, is now becoming obvious. See e.g. the videos https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ViAb3vYIh_8 and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w8q24QLXixo or the article https://spaceexplored.com/2023/04/22/photos-starship-pad-damage-elon-says-1-2-months-until-next-flight - or the live show https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vRdp1tyUUF0 already running for more than two hours.

MarcinW,

@cosmos4u maybe, just maybe, people saying that it was weird they didn't do the full-duration, full-thrust fire test like the SLS did were right after all?
Maybe people saying that them using data from a smaller 2019 starship for this launch' permits, and the regulator blindly rubber-stamping it, was something inexcusable, were right after all?

Maybe a lot of what has happened was easily preventable with basic due diligence?

cosmos4u,

Im remembrance of the pieces of Super Heavy 7 and Starship 24 now resting in the Gulf of Mexico a classic song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ayu0GsrvKQA

cosmos4u,

Amazing supercut of the ill-fated maiden flight of the #SuperHeavy / #Starship combo a week ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NCYSVmSPM7E - especially the uncut sequence from 7:30 to 12:15 has the rocket climbing and then everything going wrong in glorious, err, I mean gory, detail. Far better than what was seen in the #SpaceX webcast.

cosmos4u,

RT @jeff_foust
If you didn't have the time or inclination on a Saturday night to listen to a nearly hour-long discussion with Musk on the recent #Starship launch, a recap: https://spacenews.com/musk-predicts-next-starship-launch-in-a-couple-months/

cosmos4u,

Whoa, here is the most amazing video of the final minute of the #Starship's flight available - stabilized and de-rotated: https://twitter.com/Erdayastronaut/status/1652506392333352960 (so Elon's claim that the vehicle stayed nicely in one piece even while doing somersaults it wasn't designed for is confirmed).

cosmos4u,

The occasional Twitter Spaces with Elon M. are the closest thing to SpaceX #Starship press conferences we have (and yes, jornos must pay for access ... which Is why I'm not participating) - here is a recording of the first one after the botched flight test, held last night: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJ93kFiyPdc

@cosmos4u By paying for access to sources and news the jornos are validating the practice and shooting themselves in the foot.

@NatureMC Once indenpendent people can have a closer look at the launch site again we'll know more. There was a lot of debris thrown around for sure ...
