The stupid just get stupider. Lindell is flaunting his stupid in StupidWorld.
Via Will Sommer:
MyPillow's Mike #Lindell has been hyping his secret plan to save elections for a week. He just released it — and it's a little drone he plans to fly over polling sites.
Kelly Dereuck:
Live from the Mike Lindell event on day 2: so far the plan to secure our elections is to fly a wifi detection device on drones over polling places to see if voting machines are connected to the internet.
2/ To address all of your replies to Lindell’s stupid idea, via a friend:

“I've worked at the polls for years. Places that use electronic POLL BOOKS (used to sign in voters) need to be connected to the internet for updates and are disconnected when the polls open. These are NOT connected to WiFi, but connect directly via VPN like your cell phone. The voting machines themselves aren't connected to the internet at all.”
@GottaLaff I'm sure he means well but that makes no sense and definitions matter.
They are either disconnected machines or more likely connected to each other over a local network.
That local network can be wired or wireless(likely wifi or unlikely via Bluetooth).
That local network is likely disconnected* from the internet but entirely can still be wifi and I'd guess is WiFi.
*However, VPNs encrypt connections from your local machine/network over an unsecured network, another local or internet, to another remote network. Virtual Private Network. Virtual in that it's only an encrypted tunnel on the unsecured network.
So it can be that they are in fact connected to the actual internet, but general access is blocked except for going thru the VPN to it's endpoint (such as a central state system tabulating various districts)
And VPNs are entirely separate from https encrypted connections (which they should be using as well)
@GottaLaff In Colorado, most voting is by a ballot mailed to the voter and returned either by mail or to a drop box. But there are also voting centers where people can vote in person, and it is possible to register and vote at those centers up through early voting and on the day of the election. Colorado is not the only state that does this. https://www.ncsl.org/elections-and-campaigns/same-day-voter-registration "Colorado developed its own e-poll book system that is networked to communicate with the statewide voter registration database in real time. All jurisdictions have access to the system to check that a new registrant has not registered or voted in a different county in the same election."
Dems weren't supportive as in phrases I should use or that I should demand that Karen take "hours to dig it out." (Karen was likely lying, small village.)
I gave up. I let them send their useless ballots 2 more times while I went in to vote to waste their time. My only protest.
I went in to vote for Janet and a loud religious guy was there taking up all the oxygen in the packed room, which was mostly women.
@QueenValhalla@Gaythia@GottaLaff Ugh! That’s the thing, in a small village you probably don’t have much recourse. Thanks for voting in person in a packed room! I’ve been trying to avoid that.
@GottaLaff sorry to get technical, but a pvn is just a computer, a server, basically, that things connect through, that doesn't define the connection type. i'm on an ethernet cable, and can connect to a vpn. could do the same from wifi, a celular connection etc. not agreeing with any of the stupidness here about voting machines and wifi just explaining the technicalisms of a vpn.
@GottaLaff OMFG!!
Batshit crazy Mike Lindell is still spewing his prepubescent nonsense. And I apologize to prepubescent kids everywhere.
Why is this guy not egged, or rotten tomatoed at these events of his?
@GottaLaff@rattlersix oh i dont know about stupid. he'll claim all those wifis are, you guessed it, voting machines, and the idiots who listen to him will suck it all up.
@GottaLaff - I picture him as a dimestore Despicable Me villain flying around in a bulging ship with a big arcade crane game claw to snatch up voting miscreants below.
@GottaLaff A wonderful plan from a Mastermind of foolishness. Who seriously suggests to him that this is something that could actually work. Flying drones over public school buildings being used as a polling place sounds SUPER Creepy Mike!
