I started programming with #php at the end of 3.x days and 4 was still in development. #PHP has definitely matured nicely. By PHP 7, PHP has really started been hitting its stride. There were lots of growing pains that PHP had to get through. True OOP and tread-safety were big ones in PHP 5.x.
