Last night, I tagged the first “stable” version of socialweb/atproto-lexicon.

It’s a schema parser for the , and it should come in handy for code-generation purposes—that’s what I’ll be using it for.

As usual, I’ll probably see much more engagement with this post here than I do on . 🤣

@activitypubblueskybridge Here's the second release of socialweb/atproto-lexicon. You can now resolve all references in the schemas, even relative ones. https://github.com/socialweb-php/atproto-lexicon/releases/tag/0.2.0

@ramsey i went looking for a bluesky OSS server today, just for fun - does that not exist yet?

ramsey,
@ramsey@phpc.social avatar

@kboyd Not yet. Bluesky isn’t even federating over the protocol, afaik, even if there were other servers.

ramsey,
@ramsey@phpc.social avatar

@kboyd This is also a very interesting discussion over on Bluesky. It seems that Bluesky is really just a proof-of-concept for the protocol, and it’s not Jack’s intention that the service stick around but that other services take its place.

justin,

@ramsey @kboyd I don’t know what the proof of concept is. You can remake Twitter? Hadn’t that already been proven?

chucker,
@chucker@norden.social avatar

@justin @ramsey @kboyd you can generate a lot of media buzz with a “decentralized” protocol that has a suspicious amount of centralized single points of failure

maxtappenden,

@ramsey The bitterness in responses to this is intensely amusing to me. This place is so finished.

FinchHaven,

@maxtappenden @ramsey

With an edit:

"The bitterness in responses to this is intensely amusing to me. [That] place is so finished."

Welp

Somebody's kinda sorta beginning to maybe think they got played?

Really?

Jack would do something like that?

I'm shocked

Shocked, I tell you, shocked

maxtappenden,

@FinchHaven @ramsey What the fuck are you talking about?

Lunatic.

FinchHaven,

@maxtappenden

Right back atcha

What the fuck are you talking about?

My reply to your post?

Is "this place" that place, or "this place" the place we're both posting from?

And as to "lunatic" opinions differ on that point

maxtappenden,

@FinchHaven THIS place. This fucking place.

The absolute diatribe you lunatics put out whenever Bluesky isn’t evil is what’s amusing to me.

ATP is inherently superior to ActivityPub and it drives you up the fucking wall.

FinchHaven,

@maxtappenden

"ATP is inherently superior to ActivityPub and it drives you up the fucking wall"

ahahahahaha!!

Seriously?

Dude

Dude

Dude

You've been duped

But please

You be you

It's all you've got, isn't it?

skotchygut,

@FinchHaven @maxtappenden https://me.dm/@maxtappenden/110312326842999491

I'm guessing they aren't getting enough engagement at their network of choice. It's okay we welcome everyone here.

maxtappenden,

@skotchygut Or, you know, I was making the point that I won’t be very active here going forward.

People like you are part of the reason why. Enjoy your fragmented nightmare. Blocked.

maxtappenden,

@FinchHaven I apologise for calling you a lunatic. I see now that you’re a blithering idiot. Blocked.

rosenbergite,
ramsey,
@ramsey@phpc.social avatar

@rosenbergite @kboyd That’s certainly a take on it. I read it a little differently—everyone using Bluesky right now is part of an unpaid focus group to help them develop the protocol, and the protocol is the product.

nedfed,

@ramsey @kboyd If it's just proof of concept, will they fire all the devs once there's a million of AT protocol servers?

ramsey,
@ramsey@phpc.social avatar

@nedfed @kboyd If that happens, then they’ve succeeded.

The point is that Bluesky is the proof-of-concept. AT Protocol is the thing that they’re building to last.

nedfed,

@ramsey @kboyd Yeah, but why so slow? They have high quality devs I bet, so why is there still a giant warning label in indigo's readme and very scarce instructions? It doesn't need to last, it just needs a wider adoption compared to ActivityPub. A lasting protocol isn't necessarily good. IPv4 is a good example of that, and HTTP to a lesser extent. Vint Cerf himself wants us to adopt v6.
