@markwyner This is how your post appeared in my feed. I saw the visual before I read any of the words, & my first impression was that it was an oblique aerial view of strange islands. Then those islands started to move. The relevance of the article above is amazing! My initial perspective was not that of someone who spends much time underwater. Uncanny coincidence.

@markwyner Just a little! I’ve only seen rays in the wild once, where they come right in to shore to be fed & stroked by tourists in Western Australia. Magnificent animals.

@Susan60 they’re absolutely gorgeous. While “magestic” seems to be overused for things like this, I think it’s quite fitting. And I don’t even hold any grudges against the one that stabbed my foot a number of years back. Poor little guy was probably just scared.
