I routinely do weekly updates on Sundays, but if an interesting / important pkg/s becomes available beforehand, as seen in that script's output, i sometimes will do minor updates in-between.
@amadeus Ha! Oh goodness me no no nooooooooooo. I know next to nothing 👍. But i do know how to use a search engine, & i like to learn some cool tricks that way from peeps who actually do know stuff!
That script simply combines a couple of things i have progressively "acquired" from others over past years in this wunnerful :linux: journey, eg;

tldr while [i learned of the former from a Chris Titus video, & the latter from some random internet browsing years ago iirc]
@amadeus I check every couple days, sometimes less often. In my distribution (Calculate) there is a cl-update-checker process running all the time. If there are updates, there will be an icon in the tray.
@Paradox Interesting, thanks for sharing. Since I try to not use any GNOME extensions since a while I don't use the update indicator extension that comes with Manjaro (which I guess would do kind of the same).
@graves501 Yeah, right? 😅️ I think that I tend to become addicted to something quickly. Music, software (updates), positive thinking, meditation, food, euphoria, self improvement, all kinds of daily rituals and so forth.
