RogerBW, 4 months ago @deinol "Orichalcum" was a name made up by Plato for "weird Atlantean metal", which generations later got used to mean "brass" or "chalcopyrite". I suspect a marketing guy.

deinol, 4 months ago @RogerBW it’s amazing how many people think “allegory Plato invented” means “historical fact”. If anything it’s based on a vague sense of a previous “golden age” from before the Bronze Age collapse.
