I'm listening to Dream Theater and their album 'Black Clouds and Silver Linings'.

I've always thought of this band as the "least cool, but most well respected" band.

I bought this as my second album from them, following 'Scenes From A Memory'.

I think it's still pretty good, cause for all the dramatic flourishes, it still goes hard when it needs to, and is technically pretty amazing.

@troberts I’m not huge on the widdly fret-wankery of DT (though I appreciate their ability), but The Count of Tuscany is one of those tracks that I simply have to enjoy with The Good Headphones every now and then, because it’s a fucking masterpiece.

It's possible I had forgotten how very good this album is.

Diverse and weird and corny. But also several sequences are incredible.

Maybe I need to go check out more Dream Theater.

@troberts
I would recommend their last album "A view from the top of the world"!
Great late work.
The albums in between seem rather mediocre to me. Of course, there's always some highlight to find.
Please avoid "The astonishing"! 😱😅

And I'm very curious how the next album will turn out, after founding member and drum legend Mike Portnoy returned to the band.
