Another community list:

These are just partial lists. We need what .de has for IRC: a complete, comprehensive, searchable db for communities.

shanmukhateja,

@tchambers Great resource! Good work friend ☺️

demvoter,

@tchambers looks like there is now some #Reddit mod coordination going on and they are promoting kbin and Lemmy. Several comments in this thread note the new location on the Fediverse. Pretty exciting!

@tchambers pity to see so many of them move to Discord. I guess not everyone learns not to trust a corporation with their community.

luna,

@noodlejetski @tchambers Was going to say the same thing. Discord is even worse than reddit in a lot of ways :(

@luna I have to agree, it's like jumping from the frying pan and into the fire. I would avoid Discord.

@noodlejetski @tchambers For me it’s not corp/not corp thing with discord. I just can’t keep up with it. I either spend insane hours keeping up, or constantly feel out of the loop and like an interloper trying to butt in.

It’s a terrible way to build a larger inclusive community for anything. It would remain so even if it was free/community driven.

@breadbin they've added a "forum" feature a while ago, so you actually can make static threads which would remedy that. still, the lack of discoverability with no way of previewing the community without making an account and joining it, and the content not being available to search indexers are my biggest concerns. apart from it being owned by a company ready to sell you out at any second, of course.
