So how much power do these things really draw? I assume it's constant. I can get many months out of a coin battery with a zwave sensor, so I'm curious what this homemade sensor would draw

@bhcompy That's a good question, I've updated the post to include more details on that, but the short answer is not great. Deep sleep was 8mWh for 10 minutes, and the auto modem sleep was around 19mWh for the same time. I think if you wanted to make them battery powered there's a lot you can do to reduce the power use.
