Hey everyone in and related fields, one more week to submit your abstract for EuroCarto'24 which will take place September 9-11 in Vienna!

It would be great to meet many Fediverse users there! πŸ˜ƒ

Don't hesitate to submit your work-in-progress projects, plenty of time until the conference to get them to a presentable state πŸ˜…

@floledermann are geoai papers without direct Cartography application within the scope?

Earlier this year, I tested the #QGIS #GTFS plugins with limited success: https://fosstodon.org/@underdarkGIS/111779309699966134

After relaunching #Trajectools, I've finally gotten around to integrating the first GTFS algorithms into it.

Currently testing with GTFS datasets from #Vorarlberg https://www.mobilitydata.gv.at/daten/soll-fahrplandaten-gtfs

Not sure why there is a gap in the network at LorΓΌns πŸ€”

TIL that point displacement renderer provides labeling support 🀯

When did that happen?

underdarkGIS,
@underdarkGIS@fosstodon.org avatar

@nyalld yeah. Guess that would be very tricky.

Speaking of tricky: I tried to find out how to fix the help text on a data defined override: https://github.com/qgis/QGIS/issues/47642
But I couldn't figure out how the property type is assigned and what potential consequences introducing a new LineOffset property would have

Yay or nay? What do you think about these squiggly lines as a solution for visualizing overlapping lines?

This is just a small sample dataset from , visualized using and

@IvanSanchez I think I still don't know a QGIS trick to get good automatic line offsets for nice parallel lines

πŸ’― that would be a great plugin

Thanks for sharing all these resources, Cedric

@stevefaeembra I vaguely remember trying that before, with very limited success

@jhilden could you share an example of how this would look like? I'm not sure that I get the idea

I must be missing something.

Any pointers, #GISChat?

@stevenfeldman @opencage not yet, but looks like they have a plugin, so I'll definitely give it a try

The new vertical controller for @qgis will work with the temporal controller. Thanks to Met Office for sponsoring the work and @nyalld for helping in developing the feature:

@lutraconsulting @qgis @nyalld that looks awesome. What's the meaning of the vertical dimension in this example? Does this show pressure systems or temperature at different elevations?

Good @qgis idea from @geocat team this week. Sander would love more feedback on https://plugins.qgis.org/plugins/geocatbridge/ beyond ⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️

Inspired by wordpress, could plugins.qgis.org provide activepub to allow sharing and caring from the fediverse :)

underdarkGIS,
@underdarkGIS@fosstodon.org avatar

@jodygarnett @wheregroup @kartozageo @rjhale1971 @qgis you could ask for rights to have your plugins auto-approved. Well established devs get this right. @timlinux will know more

The new :qgis: Elevation controller widget is going to be really helpful for exploring your elevation data. It's the equivalent of the temporal controller, but for elevation filtering. In fact it can be used in conjunction with the Temporal controller. It's now available in the nightly release. Here is an example showing Trelleborg, the Viking ring fortress in Denmark North Road
