Microsoft really needs to clean up their management teams for Windows.
It would really not be that hard for Windows to be a good, trustable OS.

That they fuck up this hard is really just a cycle of absurd incompetence that seems to wave over every other Windows release.

Somehow competent product managers make it in after every fucked up release and then after a while things repeat.

unlike other bird species the pigeon siblings are very caring to each other.
The blackbird babies would regularly stand on each others head to get better food access.

fun fact, what is described as the back end process in this blog post below is what we did with the flow3r display.

Custom display assemblies from existing panels on the market are much more accessible than you might think.

uhm, wtf is Windows doing here.
I wanted to find out why creating a new folder is absurdly slow on my machine.
Why are there over 5 million queries to the registry in a matter of 90 seconds.

Everything is so much better.
I can only imagine some cursed ancient tool that I have somewhere has caused some insane bs.
So far nothing feels broken, in theory old shit is now unable to run.

They are very active these days, leaving the nest soon probably.
Go catch them live, I added a mic so you can hear them squeek when food arrives. https://www.twitch.tv/timonsku

Does anyone know if Cisco releases schematics of products to their clients? Like a service manual or smth like that.

Mostly wondering if such documents exist at all to gauge my chances of finding it leaked somewhere.

Interested in schematics for the TTC8(-02) camera line. The board is multi layer and annoying to reverse engineer without desoldering and delayering.

The pigeons already laid eggs into the next nest while their babies are still in the first nest 💀

back from and a hacking project was already waiting for me at the door
One is supposedly working fully and 3 are broken in some ways.

They are old Cisco conference room cameras with really good optics and a gimbal. They do 1080p60hz HDMI out and have 12x optical zoom.

@timonsku For some reason I thought you were at EMF and thus didn't even try to get in touch about a shared beverage at GPN. Damn 🙈

Ok did not expect such a hefty PCB.
Huge Altera Cyclone III EP3C120F780C8N on the image output side and a signal processor from TI "TMS320DM642"

Mind boggling that these cameras get dumped for ~40$ now. The three broken ones I got for 35GPB total and they seem perfectly functional except one that doesn't have an image output (which is why we get PCB pictures now)

@whitequark oh weird one.
There seems to be a loose correlation of upper 4 bits depending on length. I would guess that length of data is part of the equation and then an operation ontop of that thats based on the actual data and the type

whitequark,
@whitequark@mastodon.social avatar

@timonsku or maybe it's like... a shift+add operation per each byte

(it's not a crc)
