You know what, you guise are right: there's no way #Facebook will be good for the #fediverse
me hoping facebook users might get a glimpse of internet outside their cave is naive at best
FB is gonna show up with the carrot of shiny UI and implement all the engagement driving sticky features which average users ask for and Mastodon devs have resisted
I don't think FB sees the fediverse or Mastodon as a competitor tho. I think it views us as a field of unbranded data cows free for the milking
@frankiesaxx
In fact, the data of users of decentralized platforms is not useful at all, it is just a name and an image, and some posts do not bear the simplest information such as an ip address
Trying to really get into the #fediverse. I have accounts on #lemmy and #kbin now. With both Twitter and Reddit falling to greed, hopefully these platforms will be a new safe haven.
Meta might put an end to Jack's #bluesky (good riddence) and Twitter with their own competitor to Twitter powered by ActivityPub.
As much I don't like Meta, it might be a good thing as ActivityPub that powers Mastodon, Calckey, Misskey, Pixelfed, Akkoma, etc will finally go mainstream.
I still recommend users to join Mastodon, Misskey, Calckey, etc for their microblogging needs as Meta's solution will probably be limited in terms of features.

That's what I meant, the transfer is only supported by the platforms themselves, nor is it a complete transfer
Since it depends on the platform's desire to allow the transfer, do not expect Meta to allow it (If Meta allows it or not will not affect because their new application will not allow the operation of your own instance)
