@dHeinemann also started with the TV series, they are surprisingly faithful to the books, but it's still worth reading them for the extra context and small deviations.

The 6th season (last one so far) adapts the 6th book in the series. Moving forward is tricky though, there is a 30 year gap after the 6th book. And the scope of the story gets a lot bigger, so it's harder to adapt

Good morning, my #arch install randomly broke today. My user was just not able to log in... Something related to systemd-homed and the luks-discard option.

A colegue had some problems in their experiments and I found out the issue was they were using #chatGPT for unit conversions. I wonder how many people use it for doing math and trust the results

I corrected the problem and explained them why they shouldn't use it like this, but honestly I don't think they understood clearly what the problem was.

I'm not a programmer and don't understand the details in how #llms work, but I can already see what the lack of even surface understanding can do

Maybe new versions might get better at this and it becomes less and less of a problem in the future, as of now I am deeply skeptical of any "fact" these models give me.

To me the only use case is summarizing or rearranging text, the information in the text itself must come from me or at least be on a topic I understand

Last year, I tried out , and found it great, but it missed one (for me) must-have feature; HDR support in the LG app. This made me stick with .

But as Plex has gotten more enshittified, yesterday I decided to give Jellyfin another try. Happy to say that I can now watch HDR videos on my LG TV.

For the rest, I'm quite impressed with it. The only thing missing is a "skip intro" feature.
