So I resubbed to WoW because it's splashed all over the GFN homepage, but I'm installing it locally anyway because I got up to handle something and when I came back I was logged out of my GFN session. That plus having to always look up my password every time I wanted to play was really not any more convenient than just having it installed on my machine.
@belghast I had JUST created a character for that before I had to go do something else, but I've always only ever been pinky-deep in WoW so I have no idea what is going on there.
@Maeka@belghast that’s a damn shame. I keet hoping Discord would shoot itself in the foot so folks might even LOOK at Guilded but sheesh. Nevermind that now.
My little home server is an ancient machine, using platter drives. It also sits next to me on a filing cabinet. Yesterday, friends on Discord said they could hear a "clicking noise" on my mic which turned out to be the hard drives doing their hard drive thing.
I might need to move my home hosting empire back into the cloud. I'm not sure it's a Good Sign that the machine is making sounds loud enough to hear on the mic from across the room.
@bekopharm I'm looking at smaller NVME-based systems now, but it'll be a while before I can cobble together the cash to cobble together something better.
@bekopharm It's mostly local development and home utils, but I am hosting my site there, and might host a few public facing utilities if I can get a better performing machine in the future.
Super random tip, but I impulse bought a box of these for a paint project about a year ago and I immediately fell in love with them. If you need disposable rags for hobby/house projects, I highly recommend trying these. They don’t fall apart at all, even when soaking wet and you can use them like any cloth rag.
Of course you can just use an actual rag, but sometimes (especially with paints) you know you’ll just throw it in the trash when you’re done and these are fantastic for that.
Yesterday we had our 25th anniversary party. My wife...reminded...her sister than when she and her husband were up for THEIR 25th, my wife threw them a party so...
...ours was a local establishment called the Backyard Brewery which we all enjoy and, interestingly, was where we had my in-law's 50th anniversary party Way Back When...
...So wife and I were the LILO and walked into the room with all the guests, family, friends, and co-workers (wife's co-workers, who are awesome; mine, I don't hang out with anywhere at any time). The place was decorated up with photos and the like, and we were apparently having lunch there, buffet style. Food was really good. My SIL also hired a DJ!
She had gotten his name through a co-worker of hers; no one connected him or his name with our wedding.
When we sat down to eat we were next to where he was setup, and we mentioned it to him and he said in the 35 years of DJing, he had never been hired for both a wedding AND subsequent anniversary parties for the same group.
