I get this vibe off Java #Minecraft that it’s like Emacs, in that you can completely transform the experience with mods but maybe a beginner should stick with defaults for a year or two to understand what the mods are adding.
Also they’re both hella chunky and clunky looking.
@camper_samu the less smart-ass version of that is that woof yeah it's got some issues and it's not as big as it was. But I've had fun, especially playing with modpacks, and that's all I really care about in a game.
My theory about why people get nostalgic about old, buggy software is that they had learned how to mitigate for all those issues and were so used to workaround that the workarounds didn't cause a mental load any more.
After what feels like a gazillion years, I've finally caved and bought a cleaning robot, and now I'm watching it navigate the obstacle course that is our home.
Currently considering where to stick the googly eyes...
@IamMrsGeek@jens in addition, the animals have a joint offensive against the robot: Jumpy Dog attacks it when it moves, and the cats attack it when it's sleeping.
Poor Bouncy Dog threw up this morning. Too much excitement or not used to the food? We don’t know. He did some weird coughing in the night so we’ll keep an eye on him today to see if he needs to go see the vet. @randomgeek
Bouncy Dog (his mix is chihuahua-minpin so he has short legs and kinda bounces when he walks) has demonstrated himself to be a commendable lap dog. Planted himself at the feet of @IamMrsGeek, and just settled in for the long haul when she transplanted him to her lap.
@gizmomathboy@IamMrsGeek well the deeper truth I've learned is that I like dogs. What I don't like are a lot of dog owners out there and how they raise their dogs, which goes back to disliking people on principle and I'm quite comfortable with that.
