That's kinda why I don't mind there being some onboarding friction with Mastodon/Fediverse... If you can't immediately wrap your head around the idea of @user, you have a home domain and thay different domains can talk...

Maybe learn how to use a fucking computer before you come here.

Technical gatekeeping is best, you can't just market and/or shame it away. Either people understand the basic concepts, or they can't use it and they fuck off back to plebbit or tiktok.

The flip side of this is the shock when I go to the normie Internet and everybody is fucking stupid because there's the opposite of a barrier to entry: a financial incentive to make the service as idiot-proof as possible

My working hypothesis is that the vast majority of zoomers use email one-way... It's a place to receive confirmation emails, password resets, and marketing materials.

They've likely never sent an email outside of like a school domain where the software will assume that a bare user means @thatdomain

They put the emotional disorder, learning disability, and behavioral disorder kids in the same classes in the same containment school.

So every single year of social studies was Civil War and World War 2. Every year of math in high school was pre-algebra. Every year of English was "read this YA novel about rape"

If I wanted to actually learn something, I had to do it at home.

My understanding is that the real high school was not like this, and my city's high school was/is considered one of the best in the state.

I just need you to try running chkdsk \b and rebooting, and let me know what happens. Supposedly, chkdsk will abort or refuse to run at all. I do not believe there is any risk of data loss.

it's a pain in the fucking ass, it takes 6 months minimum from the time you have someone in mind, and only a very very very small amount of companies actually get them because there is a quota and lottery system

  • HR has a template for what number of years are required and apply it to all skills
  • An excuse to offer under the advertised pay range (Some states require a pay range now)
