i'm just going to be a bit perverse here and say: are we all down with public figures being able to remove the public history of their past statements from the Internet Archive? At the very least, maybe a record of those requests, a la https://www.lumendatabase.org/ ?

The #EFF Awards are often a bittersweet occasion, but it started more somberly this year -- memorials to Peter Eckersley and Elliot Harmon, who both passed away from cancer this year, and then an award to Alaa abd el-Fattah, the FLOSS advocate who became a pivotal protestor against Egypt's authoritatian regimes.
