Abandoned farm. I learned two fun facts on this trip. The first is that stinging nettles were mixed in with the weeds surrounding the barn. The second fun fact is that even if you just brush against them, stinging nettles are surprisingly painful.     Three days ago, five construction workers were killed in a #Stockholm suburb when the mobile elevator on their project collapsed. Though the bodies are well preserved, four of them still haven't been identified, providing stark evidence that Swedish companies employ undocumented migrant workers to an extent that few of us have been aware of.

    I've always known about militarism and cruelty. But what's cost me a lot of my faith in humanity in the past decade is the realisation of how radically vulnerable #democracy is to the stupidity and ignorance of voters.

    @mrundkvist as we saw with high energy prices last winter it’s always your own economy that drives action. There would’ve been no way to lower energy consumption in that short time otherwise

    @mrundkvist inte säker på att vad jag menade kom fram här. Jag jämförde energibristen i vintras med väldigt höga elpriser till följd och effekten det hade på elkonsumtionen. Allt hade med kostnad att göra. Precis som att SD fick många extra röster genom att lova sänkta drivmedelspriser, som också har med kostnad att göra. Att plånbokens makt är stor. Större än moral och värderingar

    @mrundkvist jo, det kan det om de tar avstamp från en felaktig självbild. Dvs att man tror att man är vinnaren, inte förloraren, av den politiken. Här finns en spännande koppling kring varför man är/inte är medlem i ett fackförbund att jämföra med. En sorts överskattning av sin egen position.

    So annoying when #scifi writers put #archaeology into their stories without researching any real archaeology or its terminology. Nancy Kress calls archaeological finds "relics". Judith Tarr has excavators "sifting remnants" and looking for gold and manuscripts. facepalm

    @lothcat i was a little disappointed with Songs of Achilles, but I think that was down to reading Pat Barkers Women of Troy first, which gave Patroclus a more “active” persona.
