I've got a row of LEDs running across the front of my house that I turn on and reprogram at Halloween and winter solstice time, and I'd like to run them in Pride too but
I've probably only got a couple of years before people start making Assumptions about my lights having Pride flag colours rather than Progress flag colours, but
I don't have any brown LEDs
Fedi, how are you handling progress colours with RGB LEDs this year? Bonus points for folks running a single LED line 'cause that's what I'm doing, post pics pls!
@ifixcoinops I’ve always assumed brown is a hard light to create, so usually I see progress colors in pigment and traditional rainbow in light. But maybe I’m wrong about that? Curious to see what you get back.
For #FindsFriday an elaborate Greek gold hairnet with garnet inlays, dating from the 3rd century BC, an older medallion of Medusa was reused in the centre.
From Taras (Tarento, Italy).
So this is how my morning went, not sad about it at all...
Also working on take 3 to get decent steel cut oats for breakfast. I feel like this is bizarrely challenging - the past two days they've stuck to the pan and didn't seem like they had enough water. Today I partially covered them and they didn't stick, but were more chewy than I liked Anyone have a favorite method of preparing steel cut oats?
@Matt_Noyes@gglockner@amerpie Clearly my problem, from seeing your responses, is that I'm procrastinating and should be doing these things the night (or a few days) before! Thanks. :)
Ya know, my whole feed right now is people joyously nerding out on their special interests, several tags of utter bloody silliness, and a whole lotta pride full of light and colour and strength, plus a few heartwarming deep and ernest conversations I get to watch unfold.
@vlrny The Monsterdon hashtag makes me grin every time I see it on my feed. I have no idea what people are watching generally, but the out of context live posting about it is fantastic.
We have got to get off using potable water to flush toilets. I'd say we need to get off using water toilets altogether, but I don't think some folks are ready for that conversation.
Fresh clean water has already gotten scarcer. Treating water only to use it to flush shit down is a really warped thing our society does.
@Faintdreams I like both of these topics a lot too! (Though it’s hard if something plays too fast and loose with the history or specifically the clothing, which has been my particular interest.)
The #seattle monorail is such a bizarre thing. Basically just a tiny little connector between two parts of the city. But super useful if you’re going between them!
Slept like ass, feel terrible, everything hurts. The Finnish nightless nights or whatever it's called is wild because while the sun theoretically drops below the horizon it doesn't actually get dark at all! What an entirely normal thing to live with!
We don’t have it nearly as dramatically as you here in the Seattle region of the US, but even sunset at 9 pm and sunrise at 5 am means there’s light til 11 pm and again at 330 am, and it can be HARD.
I both love it (more energy during the day! Sometimes boundless!) and hate it (if I happen to wake up after 4am, my body is like “it’s daytiiiiiime, let’s go!!).
@sarahtaber I’ve heard that sailors nicknames kinda derived from this - “limeys” for some that used citrus and “krauts” for those who figured out sauerkraut. Any truth to that?
