@gekidasa @angiesuarez I have Megalodon, Tusky, and Fedilab all installed. Megalodon for general scrolling and for real-time notifications. Tusky if I can't figure out how to do something in Megalodon, because the interface is v similar to Twidere and therefore easier for me to navigate. Fedilab (installed free through f-droid; it's paid in play store) for their advanced features like remote replies (loads all replies from OP server rather than just those visible to mine) and reply indenting

(also still mad they haven't fixed the issue of jp predictions breaking when one adds a cn keyboard, but atp I'm no longer expecting them to. I'm sadly too used to the symbols layout to move though)

I think not putting all one's fanwork eggs into one website basket is a good, smart thing to do, but also, I remember as I'm sure many of you do the days of "walked 15 miles uphill both ways in the rain looking for a fanfic & when you found one you didn't even enjoy it" lmao... It sucked. There's a reason people flocked to AO3 for fic instead of LJ, DW, Tumblr et al, you know? It didn't only happen because of trendiness or the rise of Big Social.

I wonder what a happy medium might look like.

@sky it might be nice if there was something like a search engine and people could spin up ao3 on their own server and add their instance to the search engine to get the fics hosted there indexed. federated ao3, of sorts

(I have given this about 5 minutes thought so I'm sure there's A Bunch of issues and idk the technical, but. it sounds nice in my head, a centralized place to search through many different archives? make it open somehow so multiple search engines can exist too, idk)

@jojo_x at least Threads is supposed to add federation at some point, so if it replaces twitter I can at least still have their users in my timeline.
I'm definitely not gonna jump ships, tho.

@Geisterweiss I'm about 99.999% sure that my instance will block threads if they ever do introduce federation :') but I guess that's what they invented accounts on other servers for, it's not like I'm planning to interact with those folks, I just want to see what they're talking about

assuming threads survives, of course. especially with their current "can't delete account without deleting your instagram as well" fiasco 😂

I always wonder, if it’s a Korean company but a Japanese group, is it kpop or jpop? jkpop?

@bluedreaming I would honestly swap between the two depending which country they're promoting in at the time, but I only ever use these labels for my own personal categorization. so company being k/j doesn't matter for me, japanese group promoing in japan = j-pop, same group promoing in korea = k-pop.

dunno if there's a consensus out there but that's what makes sense to me 🤷‍♀️ I'd be curious to know how other people handle this
