Somewhat recently I found the Tech Won't Save Us podcast, and I really liked it. So I started listening to earlier episodes. Today I found this episode, about Internet Archive and their digital lending situation. It is a 45 minute interview with Maria Bustillos, and I hope a lot of folks will take the time to listen. #internetarchive#techwontsaveus
@jikodesu started a poll about which privacy-centric phone OS is best for non-techie users. I'd say none of them are appropriate for non-techie users and that instead, normies should take an active role in understanding and managing their digital privacy. I personally use GrapheneOS without gapps, thanks to @specter 's suggestion... but I wouldn't recommend that to a normie.
It is no longer reasonable for normies to expect that they can just use digital stuff without having to learn a little. Go on normies, be curious. Need help understanding? This place is packed full of people who can't shut up about that kind of stuff... and they'll help for free.
Seriously Jiko, I'm really not trying to crap on your poll... I'm just so tired of techies having to suffer with "bad" digital services because those services are forced to pander to the non-techie users. My three cents. :-)
