Silly observation. The Table Flipper can't currently run under NVGT. And why not? Because one of the includes uses tone_synth, which isn't implemented yet.

jaybird110127,

@FluidEscence Okay I understand that in theory. But I would think if I actually specified a specific file with its extension, it would include that particular file. For example, I just tested the following program in Visual C 6:

#include "c:\windows\explorer.exe"
void main() {
printf("Yoink!\n");
}

And when compiling, it processed the #include line, included that particular file, and gave compiling it the good old college try…not that it amounted to much, as before long the error count exceeded 100.

threlm4280,

@jaybird110127 I too have games I can't convert to nvgt due to the same inconvenience. I hope this gets some attention soon.

I've played a bit with NVGT (https://nvgt.gg) which is a brand new audio game development system. A primary objective of NVGT is to be able to revive old BGT projects in a new environment. To that end, with almost no effort, I got my implementation of the Memory Train game from the BGT manual going in NVGT. Here's an audio demo.

@jaybird110127 What is that menu music?

jaybird110127,

@jscholes A combination of a few things @BorrisInABox did, mixed together by me. It's a sped up version of an Ensoniq TS-12 arrangement of one musical setting of Heidenröslein. Then I mixed in a version of the same thing but with a sped up DECtalk trying to sing the words.

I just had a #WeirdDream in which NASA decided to end the Voyager 1 mission. But rather than just stopping listening or whatever, they launched a rock at near lightspeed which, if successful, would collide with and destroy the space probe. This mission was successful.

Completed my sleep study around 5:50 this morning. I had a really hard time getting to sleep with all those wires all over my body. A few hours in, the sleep technologist came in to put me on CPAP since she could tell I have sleep apnea, which I had suspected all along, but had to get officially diagnosed before anything else can happen. Now waiting for the official report and diagnosis.

blindbat84,

@jaybird110127 WHen you got put on the machine did it help? I worry that I'd just sleep for crap due to new area, not my own bed or pillows all of that stuff. There is a pretty good chance I have it myself, but it has never impactedme enough to seek testing for it to see for sure.

jaybird110127,

@blindbat84 I'm honestly not sure because of all the other factors. Different room usually doesn't bother me, but all those wires all over my body sure did.

Tonight I go into a sleep center to do a sleep study which will almost certainly diagnose me with sleep apnea. Forty years ago today, on Saturday, May 19, 1984, some CBS executives probably had a sleepless night after Michael Larson won an unprecedented $110,237 on Press Your Luck. That was when the show was taped. Press Your Luck was a thirty-minute show, but this particular episode went on so long that they had to split it into two episodes, which aired on Friday, June 8, and Monday, June 11, 1984. They were never seen again until a GSN documentary in 2003. You can doubtless find both the original episodes and the documentary, "Big Bucks: the Press Your Luck Scandal" on Youtube.

@jaybird110127 I struggle to sleep in a new setting, and would imagine that reaction is quite common. I wonder how they factor that into sleep studies?

Well thank goodness for Backblaze computer backup. Just now I executed a command, the reasons for which are too involved to get into here. But I missed one crucial letter, and the result was that, if left to its own devices, it would have happily wiped out everything on my C: drive. Luckily I realized what I'd done immediately, and stopped it while it was munching through a directory I have in Dropbox. I stood to lose everything in my root directory, along with all my batch files, most but not all of which I had on another system. Backblaze to the rescue, and I got everything back. Whew! Moral of the story? Back up your stuff, kids! You never know when you might need it.

remixman,

@jaybird110127 Super data recovery could have helped, too! :P

jaybird110127,

@remixman Nah, they'd have just taken the drive apart and thrown it on a concrete floor…which probably wouldn't have made much of a sound, given that's an internal SSD in an Intel Nuc.

Silly Eloquence finding. Spell, Boy. B, o, y. That's all well and good. But if you put a second o before the y, you get the following: Booy.

Attention, attention. This audio post, demonstrates, the way in which, a certain Alexa skill developer, apparently likes to put pauses, every few words, in the middle, of sentences. So now, don't forget to listen, to this audio file, so you can know, exactly, what I'm talking about.

cordova5029,

@jaybird110127 holy, moly. I think, he uses, commas too? much.

Tarrenvane,

@jaybird110127 Wow, that's a lot of pauses. Sounds like an interesting game though.

So in NVDA 2024.1, for some reason Addon Updater now opens a dialog when updates are available, rather than just a notification. I do not like this, as it could well interrupt something important I'm trying to do. I hate when something throws me out of focus when I'm trying to do something else, especially if I was just about to press Enter at the time, so I end up hitting Ok to something I didn't want to do for one reason or another. Any way to revert to the old behavior? Thanks.

jaybird110127,

@tspivey Well I just ran that in the NVDA Python console, and I'm please to say that seems to have fixed it.

radio1975,

@jaybird110127 You can set it to open a dialog or you can have it notify you. You must have it set to open a dialog.

@datajake1999 Hey I see someone has created a renderer branch of Nuked SC55 designed to render MIDIs to Wavs. Any chance you could build that? Or let me know how to build it on Windows, and what I need? Thanks.

Okay, I have a problem on a few systems with NVDA Addon Updater. It just tried to update something in a portable copy, and I got this message: Error dialog Error downloading update for Resource Monitor. It would be very nice if it actually, you know, told me what the error was. As it is, I have no idea what the problem is or how to find out, so no clue how to fix it. Any thoughts? Thanks.

@jaybird110127 @NikJov Also, add-on store where possible. Add-on updater or tienda can be used for nvda.es supplemental stuff that isn't in the store.

jaybird110127,

@x0 @NikJov Thing is, Tienda throws an error as well when downloading. Addon store works, and doesn't show an update for either of those addons.

Please boost for reach. My dad and I both have iPhone SE second generation (2020) phones. For several months he has complained about intermittent sluggishness when doing just about anything involving a change of focus E.G. unlocking the phone and going to the Home screen, opening an app (whether it's already running or not), etc. Turning VoiceOver off and back on again usually fixes it temporarily, and so does restarting the phone. Sometimes making a change in some settings such as unpairing an old Apple Watch that he wasn't using would fix the problem, again temporarily. I hadn't experienced the problem until last night when it reared its ugly head on my phone. A restart of VoiceOver fixed it for me, and I thought I'd found the magic solution, only to have him tell me that's a very temporary fix. Both of us are totally blind, so we can't tell if the phone itself is slow to launch things, or if it's VoiceOver that's taking much longer than normal to react to changes on the screen. Is anyone else having this problem? If so, do you know of any solutions? Would getting an iPhone SE third generation fix it? What about resetting the phone and erasing all data, then restoring from iCloud? Thanks for any help.

musicalman,

@jaybird110127 I sadly don't have much for you, but if it started suddenly out of the blue, I'd try maybe checking battery health, maybe there's something funny going on. As a last resort, restore an affected device with ITunes or what have you and see if that fixes anything. If even that doesn't help, then it's likely a deeper issue perhaps with the hardware, but I really have no idea beyond that.

bryansmart,

@jaybird110127 My 13 gets this way after watching some types of videos in Safari. What fixes it is not touching the screen, at all, for 10 or 15 seconds, so the sound device will completely close. Then, when I start touching and swiping again, all will be normal.

For those who are following the Nuked Roland SC-55 emulator project, I just recorded running a MIDI of Rush E through it. It gets through most of it okay, but then chokes when too many notes start playing. Eventually not much actually gets played, and it gets so bad that LoopMIDI throws an error that it's detected feedback on the virtual MIDI port. So for what it's worth, here's what it managed to do. @x0 @Bri @BorrisInABox @datajake1999 @arfy

cordova5029,

@jaybird110127 @x0 @Bri @BorrisInABox @datajake1999 @arfy I just had this hilarious immage of some tts voice, doing little gibberish phonemes over this melody.
