Not accepting sponsors on YouTube videos is admirable and prevents corporate influence ✅

What it won't prevent is 'clickbait' influence. Channels who don't make enough money to be stable may feel more pressure to hit the algo with sensational content, because more viewers directly = more money/ads/patrons.

IMO, having a well-rounded strategy is best. Have sponsors but not depending on them. Having crowdfunding but not depending on it. Any single source scenario presents conflicts of interest.

• If Toyota cared as much about sustainability as they claim, they wouldn’t be the #1 enemy of EVs. Instead of lobbying to prevent competitors, maybe they should’ve competed.

I don’t understand why people who send me emails to promote their software or products expect me to answer them, even just to tell them I’m not interested.

They sent me something, without any invitation. They want to sell me something, or get me to promote their product. Why would they feel I have an obligation to let them know I don’t want to? Just accept that no answer after a few weeks means « no », and stop wasting time and energy on emails.

Your friendly reminder that most companies will never go above the bare minimum requirements to protect user privacy. Basic laws raise the bar for everyone and give people more control over their rights.

No, laws won’t fix everything. But having almost 0 protection for end-users is a disaster waiting to happen.
