Lots of people (including Apple) put full-color icons on each top-level row in Settings these days.

I'm experimenting with using monochrome SF Symbols there. I may not ship it this way, but it's kinda fun, and it lets me use the same icons that are used for the corresponding features throughout the rest of the app.

Maybe that improves consistency and understanding, especially since I don't currently have localized strings.

I just returned my iPad Pro M4. #iPad is not a computer.

Here are some of the things I couldn’t do:

  • No custom app launcher like Alfred or Raycast
  • No local development
  • Inconsistent or non-existent keyboard shortcuts
  • No multiple audio streams
  • No browser extensions for Chrome/Brave
  • No granular firewall apps like Little Snitch
  • Can’t connect to my hardware crypto wallet
  • Can’t export/backup my #Protonmail
  • Can’t use #Logseq plugins
  • Can’t backup (via Arc). iCloud is not backup.

@fahrni Two major wins for me were the external monitor support and the function keys on the new Magic Keyboard. Oled screen is really nice too.

@alabut It’s Capisco chair as @ScottE mentioned. Works great with standing desks as I can easily switch between standing and sitting without adjusting the desk all the time.

With all the arguing about threads the one thing that actually annoys me is the current status quo, where federation is entirely one-sided: any reply just disappears into a black hole, nor can fediverse servers see replies to posts from threads.

It’s just that one post in total isolation.

I assume the answer is ‘no’ but wanted to ask anyway: does anyone know if threads has (or is planning to have) an API to at least fetch responses so it could be integrated with FediFetcher?

@michael no API yet. One-sidedness is definitely weird but they communicated that bi-directional integration is in progress and will be released slowly throughout 2024.
