“The issue, now before Cannon in the Southern District of Florida federal court, is likely to remain in the political debate at least until Cannon holds a hearing on the legal power of the special counsel to prosecute a defendant, on June 21.”
To be honest, I don’t think it’s about quantity, but more about quality.
I’d rather Trump have one, one single charge of insurrection that leads him to life in prison (or 20 years or whatever, which would pretty much be life for him), than 50 that lead to nothing.
As a kid back then, I was “scandalized,” in the sense that to me politicians represented, or are supposed to represent, a model of societal excellence. I was laughing while I typed that. But I was a kid. What the fuck did I know?
Today, I’d say “as long as they’re doing their jobs and they’re not harming anyone, who the fuck cares what they do with their private life?” Of course, the whole power imbalance is problematic. So I guess these matters can be treated on a case-by-case basis.
I’d rather have blowjob scandals than the nazi rhetoric normalizing we have today.
In other words, your use of the church is aimed towards community-oriented or community-building activities instead of proselytizing. I can get behind that.
My mom likes to go to church because she’s a hard-core catholic, for which I roll my eyes. But then she has met people in it who genuinely care for her, and that’s the community part I can support.
The rest of it, the fear mongering, the anti- this or anti- that, can go straight to hell.
Yeah, unfortunately where I come from, there’s some major shit the country has to deal with before the evangelicals can even start to organize in a meaningful manner. Catholics remain on top, and that’s another can of worms, but at least they don’t take the whole controlling in the name of God bullshit that seriously.
I’m a U.S. citizen now, and I moved away from both places (birthplace and America) a while ago, and I don’t miss that religion aspect one bit!
