Have questions about all things "agile"? This time I'm not joking and you can join @mike_bowler and me on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 from 4:00PM to 6:00PM Eastern Time for a Coaching Ask-Me-Anything (AMA)!
Mike and I each have 25 years of experience with agile methods and have picked up a ton of tools along the way that we can share with you!
Hi folks! I have a new post up on Embracing Agility:
No Points for You!
A specific topic regarding Story Points from my AgileAI experiment was whether we should estimate work on defects & tech debt using story points. Read on to find out!
The second theme identified by the questions around Story Points from my AgileAI experiment was about equating points in some way to time. I this post I describe why that's probably a bad idea!
My AgileAI experiment (which is a fancy name for “joke”) yielded several different themes around the questions posed about Story Points. In this post I’m going to examine the first theme - what are Story Points and why use them?
Hi folks! After the fun of my AgileAI site on April 1st, I'd like to make a real announcement for my new substack - Embracing Agility. My first post, not surprisingly titled "Welcome!", talks about what I learned from creating AgileAI and how I plan to use this substack account.
OK everyone, it has finally arrived! The first custom language model dedicated solely to Agile Software Development & trained on well over 20 years of Agile & lightweight process knowledge.
Hi folks! I've published a new article discussing how I feel about the state of Agile Software Development in 2024. I'm interested in how you feel as well, and would love to hear both your success and failure stories!
Hi folks! I have a new article up - Estimates and Conversations - about how you can stop using Story Point Estimation and Planning Poker and move to probabilistic forecasting. #Agile#Estimation#Planning
Hi folks! I have a new blog post up, called "A Radical Idea - Talking to Customers", inspired partially by Jason Gorman. Please have a read and let me know what you think about the apparently radical idea of collaborating closely with the people for whom you're building a system!
The thermometer is headed for a very cold low tonight. I guess that's it for the flowers and many herbs.
The kale might come through okay, as it's pretty hardy. Sage might be okay too, but uncertain. #gardening#firstFrost
I'm watching an NFL football game on CTV. There are repeated commercials from the Conservatives and the Alberta government using questionable "facts" to attack the Liberals and NDP. It's a great way, CTV, to get me to change the channel while those are playing. 🙄
I think I'm gonna update my CV to say that I worked from October 2023 to January 8246 for a company that made a time machine. I just want to see if anyone notices.
@deborahh Wow!! I had forgotten that you lived in Montreal before Toronto. I also didn't realize you were old enough to have been so directly affected!
Despite all the controversy, Trudeau Sr.'s invocation of the War Measures Act absolutely helped defuse the crisis and essentially kill the FLQ.
As disruptive as they were, the 1980 and 1995 referenda were the proper way to go about the separatism issue. While I didn't agree with him, I always respected René Levesque's non-violent approach to the matter.
@deborahh Heh, yeah. It's interesting - there are two rather large subdivisions in Ottawa whose lineage traces back to the referenda. As it was told to me, both were created by migrations of the Montreal Jewish population at those times.
A little bit of bread is working in the kitchen after an overnight primary ferment in the fridge.
Some experimental sausage rolls I haven't tried in a while. I've built them around cannoli tubes to get that optimal bun to sausage ratio. Worked okay last time. A few technique tweaks planned here.
Also a single loaf of bread, as I have enough dough.
Hi folks! I have a new article up on LinkedIn called, "I'm Not Just an Agile Coach!", in which I explain why I don't completely fit the common perception of what an Agile Coach is, and how I have much more to offer! #Agile#Coaching#XP#Lean#DevOps#ContinuousDelivery
