I've never really been a fan of podcasts (I blame my auditory processing issues), but I kinda wanna give them a try listening on my tangara. Does anyone have any recs for where to find some downloadable podcasts? Also any recs for podcasts in general? Preference for non-fiction, topics can really be anything so long as its interesting and well presented. Big fan of lefty media analysis video essay type stuff on youtube, would love to find some podcasts like those.

I had two assumptions in the past.

  1. People who drive for Uber do it because they need extra cash.

  2. People who buy a Tesla have too much cash.

But while in California last week a good number of Uber cars were Teslas.

Can someone make it make sense for me?

@rasterweb I'm not sure, but I once had an uber driver pick me up in a fancy car once (not a tesla, this was kind of before they gained popularity). She talked at length about her entrepreneurial endeavours, how the uber driving was a side hustle that she also used to network and make connections. She talked the entire time, trying to plug her businesses or ask about my own work. It was very strange, and a bit worrying.

i dunno who needs to hear this but, it's cool to be 'cringe'. so long as they aren't hurting anybody, that part of you that sees somebody else enjoying something or being vulnerable and winces inside? you need to kill it, as early as possible, because it does nothing but make you miserable and it's genuinely cool to see people expressing their feelings and interests without feeling like they're going to be mocked for it. the coolest thing you can be imo is genuine.

working on a dark theme for tangara. i added a gradient for a test and, that's it. that's the theme. i wish my camera could do it justice but it looks so slick irl.

@craftyguy it's hard to judge from a photo, but i've had no issues using mine in sunlight. the brightness goes up much higher than i tend to have it, and the screen is matte so glare isn't much of an issue (my biggest gripe with screens in sunlight is glare personally)

@craftyguy we're still finalising the case design, but once that's done i plan to test how well the case keeps out dust/water. there's some improvements that could be made, but there's tradeoffs. for example, the sd card port is a place which would (with the current design) very easily take on water, but it would be fairly simple to design and 3d print a plug that would make the card less accessible but also protect from dust/water better.
