Texas man recounts wife's #miscarriage experience under new #abortion restrictions >>>
"What are we supposed to do?...They feel scared - the doctors feel scared."
"Everything that's she's having to do right now to get better... it's not just a reminder of the baby we lost, it's a reminder of what they put her through."
We take so many of these statements at face value because they seem to make sense in our #patriarchal system, and then before we know it we’ve got terrible, repressive, socially-accepted "knowledge."
@BlueWaver22 Hey. re: your reply to Teri Kanefield...
There is NO difference between a response like yours and the trolling that so many of us (especially women) put up with on 🐦.
If we removed your name from this post, copied it, and put some right-wing troll's username on it, who would know the difference? And that is the crux of the problem because there should be a clear difference. Instead of promulgating hate and harassment, you should be promoting thoughtful commentary and respect.
Reading about #NarrativeTherapy, of which I knew very little and am learning much, but never expected to end up reading about #Foucault and #neoliberalism as the theoretical underpinnings of this practice. It makes me hopeful for my future as a #MentalHealth therapist.
Quote from #JohnWinslade: Neoliberalism transforms people into less #democratic, more governable, docile, more consuming, neoliberal subjects who nevertheless believe themselves to be free because they have consumer “choice.”
I’m just going to put the whole quote here. It’s from a handout in a workshop he did with the #Vancouver School for Narrative Therapy (2016), from the book Narrative Therapy (2nd ed.), by Stephen Madigan:
#Texas doctor who said nine-year-olds can safely give #birth appointed to maternal mortality committee >>>
The move worries reproductive justice advocates who say the state’s #abortion ban – among the strictest in the US – has placed pregnant women’s lives in jeopardy. The appointment could undermine the committee’s ability to accurately examine the impact of the law on deaths during and in the immediate aftermath of pregnancy, they say.
Samuel Alito loves his flags! A second flag, this one showing a pine tree and the words "An Appeal to Heaven," was photographed flying outside his beach house. That flag is the same as those carried by #insurrectionists on J6 and has been associated with Christian Nationalism.

The broader #natalist movement has been gaining momentum lately in #conservative circles — where anxieties over falling birth rates have converged with fears of rising immigration — and counts #ElonMusk, who has nearly a dozen children, and #ViktorOrbán among its proponents.
