The WPE on #Android session of the @webhackfest is starting momentarily. Again, it's going to start with a status update followed by discussion and Q&A. This one can be joined remotely as well, all the info can be found at https://github.com/Igalia/webengineshackfest/issues/34

Third day (and last) of the @webhackfest — We are starting with the “WebKit and Skia” session, which can be joined remotely. Those interested in knowing how the effort is going and what is coming up in the next months can find the relevant links at https://github.com/Igalia/webengineshackfest/issues/36 ✏️

The day is kicking off in the @webhackfest, and the “Web Engines Rendering in Linux: Sharing Ideas and Solutions” breakout session is now starting → https://github.com/Igalia/webengineshackfest/issues/26
There will be some slides to get the ideas flowing, and then the goal is to discuss what's the state of the art regarding graphics and windowing systems in #Linux —the main target platform for WPE WebKit— and how they relate to web engines.
All the “big” engines are represented: WebKit, Chromium/Blink, Gecko, and even Servo!

The @webhackfest organized by @igalia kicks off tomorrow Monday, June 3rd, and will span three days full of talks, BoFs, and workshops related to Web technologies and their implementation 🌏
A number of @webkit contributors are going to be present and there are a number of scheduled sessions which will cover topics related to WPE WebKit. Check them out! 👇🧵

@webhackfest First, on Monday at 17:00 CEST (UTC+2), we will have Nikolas Zimmermann talking about the work done so far on WebKit's new Layer-Based SVG Engine (LBSE), focusing on the progress during done during the previous year and what is coming next → https://webengineshackfest.org/#lbse
This should be a great complement to our recent blog post on this very same topic: https://wpewebkit.org/blog/status-of-lbse-in-webkit.html

@webhackfest Then on Tuesday at 12:00 CEST (UTC+2), on the side room, Patrick Griffis will do a more hands-on session, demoing the new container-based SDK for WebKit and discussing the rationale for its creation and how it works. Details, including how to attend remotely, at https://github.com/Igalia/webengineshackfest/issues/31
This new SDK has been recently announced by Patrick in his blog, too: https://blog.tingping.se/2024/05/23/Introducing-WebKit-Container-SDK.html

@webhackfest Did you know that we have been hard at work adding support to use Skia for rendering in WebKit? Carlos Garcia announced the effort back in February this year — https://blogs.igalia.com/carlosgc/2024/02/19/webkit-switching-to-skia-for-2d-graphics-rendering/ — and progress has been steady since.
On Wednesday, also at 12:00 CEST (UTC+2) on the side room, Alejandro Garcia and Carlos himself will report about the current status of the project and the plans for the coming months. Information about the session can be found at https://github.com/Igalia/webengineshackfest/issues/36

@webhackfest Did you know that WPE #WebKit can run on #Android as well? WebKit was the first web engine to run there, and after some time off, now it has been back for a while!
Continuing with status updates, on Wednesday at 15:00 CEST (UTC+2), Jani Hautakangas will talk about the latest developments in WPE-Android and the goals for this year. There might be some demos, too. Information can be found at https://github.com/Igalia/webengineshackfest/issues/34

@webhackfest Lastly, while not directly about WPE WebKit, but still relevant given Linux is our main target operating system, Tuesday at 10:00 CEST (UTC+2), there will be a breakout session where people working in different web engines will discuss their experiences around anything graphics-related: Wayland, VSync, graphics buffer management and sharing strategies, composition, rendering libraries...
We expect this one to be quite technical at times: https://github.com/Igalia/webengineshackfest/issues/26
