PSA: Given the recent security problem with XZ (CVE-2024-3094), we've re-uploaded to @sourceforge the ISO of version 3.3.0, which we deleted a few minutes ago to upload a newer ISO.

  • xz-utils is 5.4.5.
  • Nitrux does not use Systemd and does not include OpenSSH Server.

We're confident our website has more information about what we do besides not using systemd. It is indeed one of the things we've changed regarding the Debian base. However, that has never been the main talking point in our communication. So much so that all we mention about this on the landing page(s) is a single sentence about using OpenRC.

It is a significant difference but not a defining trait.

I don't know when Nitrux became an immutable OS, but I used to be able to install things, and now, no longer. They have removed apt, apt-get, and aptitude.

It is supposedly, KDE Plasma, but this thing is ugly as sin.

They have crippled KDE Settings, Dolphin is removed in favour of something called, Index, which has few limited settings, of which you cannot view hidden files. The hot corners are missing, which means I cannot switch between windows. Some windows are missing minimize and close.
