Solarpunk is still very communitarian with a healthy dash of anarchism. The focus is on sustainability and using technology to support both human and ecological flourishing rather than that of metahuman entities like businesses, states, or organizations.

What you see as “doomsday pepper shit” and “subsistence farming” is radical anticonsumerism. People wanting to support themselves and each other rather than make money and buy products.

Solarpunks aren’t luddites or antisocial, quite the opposite. That’s what you see to be missing.

Yes, I see the problem with subsistence farming. Again, that’s not the goal. Tech-assisted, ecologically sustainable farming is.

Green cities, too, of course, but your objections seems to stem from misidentifing solarpunk as being about being some kind of off-grid individualists living off the land, which it is just not.

Belgian elections are today. Mailbox flyers for political candidates often show profiles in exclusive walled gardens (Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram). And they often have email addresses at hotmail, gmail, or outlook. They are betting on #digitalExclusion. I am cancelling all of them regardless of party....

Can you clarify your objections? Are you refusing candidates who use walled gardens prominently or only ones who use walled gardens exclusively, with no public webpage?

And I’m unfamiliar with your objections around email hosts entirely. Can you explain those?

Spent two days in bed with a bad cold, came back to work today to find out I’ve been fired. It was a part-time temp position, so not the worst news, but I liked it there. I guess I’ll go back to full time at the job I hate.

My father developed a gambling addiction and drained my college fund without telling me. If my parents had told me right away I would’ve had time to take a leave of absence and work full-time or apply for additional financial aid. Instead the school kicked me out for unpaid tuition and won’t let me come back to receive my degree.

I completed all the coursework for a BA in CS. I just couldn’t pay for it, so no degree for me.
