Our Puritan culture says that 7th graders are asexual. It's taboo to speak about them having any sexuality at all. Men feel shame, and sometimes hate themselves, for even thinking about it.

So instead of being proud of having a fabulous body, young women in puberty are ashamed, and mocked because they have clearly visible secondary sexual characteristics. They are women. But we are in denial. It's just psycho bullshit.
