I'm particularly happy with this new piece -- a neoclassical / jazzy piano solo that I have called "microsonatina". I'd love to hear your opinions about it.

@milubo Thank you Michel! My god, you named the Gods there... and I love your remark, "like a stubborn child". I think it captures perfectly the essence of the piece! 🙇

This is a musical rendition of the 16th poem of the Ogura Hyakunin Isshu. Poetically, one of the most perfect and amazing of them all.

https://eidon.bandcamp.com/track/tachiwakare-waka-no-16

Again, this is a hybrid piece. The heavily reworked generative music here is coupled with an original non-generative shakuhachi flute part. The other instruments are bodhrán percussion, harp, and taiko drums.

In between the two brief parts, I have placed here a reading of the poem in question. I hope you'll enjoy the result.

Cheers,
Eidon.

Watching Tokyo Story today

It's from 1953

It's so interesting, socially speaking

You see that everything has changed, and everything is still changing

Interrelationship, for instance

Kids are more informal, more prone to individualism and to "break free" from traditions and its rules

But the film is also idyllic

It does not picture the turmoil of a land that has lost a war and suffered from nuclear bombings

Yesterday I started reading Osamu Tezuka's Ayako

It's from 1949, so closer to the end of the war

And sooo much more realistic. United states are cruel conquerors there, and do not stop at nothing to maintain full control of the nation and the people. The Shimoyama "accident" portrayed there is just an example of how the lives of people had no value those days.

While now, instead...

Ah, what a mess is the so-called human being.

Eidon,
@Eidon@raru.re avatar

@milubo Oh, that's very interesting! What would you suggest me of Naruse? Thank you very much.

I have always been impressed by Coleridge's work, particularly his Rime. From time to time I write a piece dedicated to or inspired by that work. Such is the case with this three-part piece for piano and percussion. For me it is a special piece, different from others. I abandon myself to it, like in a dream. I hope you enjoy it.

Today I have for you this "bizzarria" (the term means “extravaganza” in Italian). The piano is accompanied here by a Mellotron MkII in the flute register. Western and Eastern percussion complete the picture. I hope you'll like it!

Amazing show yesterday

Th most interesting composition in it is perhaps one from Belgian band "Present", whose members include Roger Trigaux, one of the founders of Univers Zero!

Certain music is born to accompany an action -- a feeling, sometimes. Such is the case with this piano piece. I would love it if it became the soundtrack of a film telling, for example, the simple stories of two young souls born and met by chance in a quiet French village. Unreal things that will never happen; to dream about, therefore.

Nine days ago I had this musical idea and started working on it. It was only three days ago that I reached a clear understanding of how it had to be. I wanted to develop it in two different directions, so I came up with two versions: «Igor» and «Igor'» (Igor prime). I love them both and can't decide which is the best. I hope you'll like them too! ^_^

This is «Igor»: https://eidon.bandcamp.com/track/igor

Quando as andorinhas vêm, vem a primavera.

When the swallows come, spring is coming. And sometimes a theme comes to you as well, and takes hold of you and messes up all your priorities -- all your plans. It is not a matter of obeying, it is a matter of vanishing. You disappear to make way for something else -- something more beautiful. Like spring; or this theme, in fact.

Every once in a while I write compositions that I refer to as "Bachian plagiarisms". Why such terms, why plagiarisms? Because that's what they are. My mental processes cannot detach themselves from the musical ideas I have encountered, especially when those ideas are so monumentally extraordinary such as J. S. Bach's. We are Hidden Markovian Simulators, in a sense. How original, then, is what we "create"? My guess is that there is a certain originality in what we do, yes. This piece, for instance, is Bachian and is not by Bach, yes. Therefore, I dare propose it to you; and the noun "plagiarism" is required so as to state clearly the terms of my proposition.

Brahman has been defined as "the pervasive, infinite, eternal truth, consciousness and bliss which does not change, yet is the cause of all changes".

I have found a picture taken in Utrecht, The Netherlands. It shows a graffiti with four Bach heads and some scribblings. If you mirror it, you get

B R A M A n
H
n A MA R B

When I realized / interpreted the above, I understood that this piece was called "Brahman"
