@jchannon @ythos You might be encountering the issue from the following SO question: https://stackoverflow.com/q/71570877/197913

The data JsonArray is already a child of jsonObject. You might need to create its copy/clone and add that one to the outer array.

It seems you can use DeepClone for that in .NET 8, but need to use serialization/deserialization in older .NET versions. See the accepted answer for details.
