Be careful out there please. At these temperatures, sweating won't cool the body down, #HeatStroke is a very real danger🌡️

The #Pagasa #WeatherStation in #Pasay City projected a heat index of 43 °C, while its station in #QuezonCity has a forecast of 42°C.

Weather station update: I've not done one for a while, but progress is being made.

Most of the components are now nearly complete, just got one more to clean up after moving parts around before I can think of an initial alpha release.

I've also started writing documentation for it, the dreaded but necessary part for something complicated like a weather station.

Anyhow, you can see the current UAT build running at https://weather.area51.dev/

Inspired by a post @ai6yr responded to (I'm sorry I can't remember who originally asked how easy it was to do this or I would tag you) I finally got around to connecting my weather station to the web. I'm happy to report it was relatively painless.
It took about 5 minutes, and the hardest part was remembering my wifi password.

Just to give an idea of how bad it must be in parts of the UK which are flooded.

From my station @me15weather

Last month (Dec 2023) I recorded 82.7mm of rain.

For the first 4 days of January 39.7mm - that's 48% of Decembers rain fall in just 4 days!

At the time I'm writing this (11:00 UTC Jan 5 2024) it's now up to 49.8% of Decembers rain fall.

The current forecast for the next week looks a bit dryer, but that could quickly change.

Testing code whilst in the pub...

Prototype of the weather station webserver code showing the current state.

Obviously this is a prototype, but it's working.

Running in a #raspberryPi 5

Also note. It's dynamic, with a live feed, its low download volume.

What this test it's still under 24K, with live updates.

Still working on it but it's getting there.

Obviously the url will work on my as I'm running it.

Lots to do though

I want to build something with my arduino or raspberry pi pico but I can't decide what. I'm leaning towards some kind of weather station but I'm not sure yet. I want it to be something useful. I never find and projects online I like because there usually just useless gadgets I'll never use. #raspberrypi #arduino #maker #python

@bacon @cybervegan If you get stuck with building a #weatherStation just ask as I've been slowly rebuilding my station in recent months & will be adding additional home made sensors to it - it's #raspberryPi & PicoW based & already posts here as @me15weather Going to rebuild the cameras for it this weekend.

I also have a PicoW attached to my freezer with a waterproof DS18B20 going inside to monitor how cold it is - or warn me if it's defrosting etc.
