Im honestly kinda disappointed in all the people jumping on catodon now and calling it firefish successor its kinda very bad as the devs don't intend it to be a firefish successor nor is it trying to be anything like firefish or misskey in general, talking about migrating to catodon while also calling it firefish sucessor is like punching the catodon devs in the face
as they try to create something simple for newer users, not something for existing key users that enjoy fun shit like MFM
please everyone do you research before spreading shit this is also very harmful to the project at least from my POV. if everyone starts hyping the project for something that it is not.
please just give @panos and @catodon some time, and don't put them under pressure for something its not.
If you want a Misskey fork that is unlikely to die as its a softfork (updates with misskey) anytime soon and is community focused and includes #firefish inspired changes go with #sharkey
if you really really want to stick with the firefish sort of thing of doing things try the firefish fork #iceshrimp
and if u want something new more geared towards new users / casual users try looking into #catodon
but don't just jump the gun on things u don't even know fully about
Umm... Is the follow requests list broken on #sharkey? I had two follow requests from @digikitty_x86 's deleted alts and they're still there, even trying to accept/reject, turning follow requests off and on.
#sharkey has a bug that causes some menu options to be hidden ... curiously, no one on their matrix chat knows what these options do or how to reveal them
Have mobile apps caught up with *key forks yet or is PWA / Browser still the best way to experience them?
Bit of an idle question, I'm not an app guy if I can avoid it, but I do know some folks prefer them. Happy with my PWAs, just curious as to the state of the app landscape after a year.
Tired of missing tags, notifications and directs so I'm trying the deck mode out again. I think I've landed on something I can be happy with. Thoughts? How do you set up your deck mode on #Sharkey?
Anyone else on #Misskey / #Sharkey having trouble getting the follow to stick rather than hang at processing? A common occurrence for me with bot accounts. Had a problem with PodcastIndex and the dev found an issue with authorised fetch with their implementation. Fixed and I can follow. Wonder if having same issue here?
So....I keep thinking about this Sharkey migration and as I see it, I have 2 options:
Attempt to re-migrate to beaware.live (my main domain) even though I briefly already had an instance there and risk potential federation issues.
Migrate to beaware.social (new domain) and redirect beaware.live to it which shouldn't cause issues.
In all honesty, if I could be almost positive I could do the first option with little or no federation issues, I'd rather go that route. BUT, if I can't get a definitive answer on if that would work or not, the second option is always there....any advice?
Wait, #Pleroma has a thing where instance admins can manage emoji collections with a package manager? Does it just use the URL once and forget it or does it set up a chron job to check for updates? Is there a way to set up an auto-updater for #Sharkey? I don't want to bother @Kitty every time @volpeon adds new ones.
Sharkey / Misskey really need to improve the scroll bar for web browsers. It is the same color as the website, no matter what theme, making it nearly invisible, and they've used some CSS to make it so thin, I think they were trying to hide it altogether.
Go into settings > General, scroll down to Appearance and turn on Seasonal Screen Effects.
I turned it on a couple of weeks ago and nothing happened but today I'm watching cherry blossom falling as I type this which is very lovely, reminding me of the garden full of flowering cherry trees I once had. 🥰
