Quite a downpour going now! Glad to get the deluge on the garden and pond.

I think I've settled most of the pond leaks (mostly stream bed adjustments). Hate using metered city water in the process.

Left a window open a bit, and the muggy Thursday humidity is creeping in! Ugh, might need to run the AC soon just to dehumidify a tad.

Ah nice to see the rest of the week is much more pleasant. It's very hot and muggy now, so I'll enjoy the change.

I wonder if there will be a something stormy come through in the change over this evening or overnight?

@ottaross@mastodon.social avatar

Only 11°C outside now, going down to 7C overnight and a high of 20C tomorrow. The house is a bit cool heading to bed. I suspect I'll want to run the furnace tomorrow morning to take the chill off for breakfast.

I'm glad the temps are staying low as we head into June. Makes enjoying the outdoors much nicer if we're not into the hot stuff.

A real deluge of rain just now, as a front goes through. Glad I held off using city water to fill the pond yesterday. This should do it.

A nice break in the with cooler temperatures today. We'd been into the first period this season hot enough to warrant turning on the AC in the evenings before bed Tuesday and Wednesday.

Some intense midweek rain also put an end to the longest -in-bloom period I can recall, finally knocking the flower petals off. :(

The combo of the squirrels leaving them alone for a change, and stable weather had kept them intact – nice indeed!

Was just using the eclipse-viewing welding glass to see the spots on the sun today. That's a big one alright.

Well, several, and they're pretty huge in reality.

Luckily we have a forecast for clear skies tonight - so if there's a massive aurora we might see it in Ottawa.

A storm is getting organized as it approaches us. It was rather diffuse until about half an hour ago. It's approaching us from the southwest.

Unless it dissipates suddenly (as has been known to happen) we'll be getting some rumbles momentarily.

The forecast snow has just arrived for us.

Don't think it'll accumulate at all, but a good flurry happening now. Tulips are up, trees are leafing out and the grass is green, but a little hint of winter holds on.

That snow fall has been ridiculously steady all day today. I'm ready for it to stop and get the melting going.

Glad I swept the walk this morning, as it has stayed clear all day with just that extra bit of help.

Good job folks. Whoever decided that there was no need to cancel school buses today deserves a raise. I hope they have a long career renown for such wisdom.

Just back from going for #pho. It's nasty weather tonight, windy blowing rain, snow and sleet. Glad it wasn't far to walk.

Home to see the first off the accumulation on the grassy areas only. There's more where that came from! Still too warm for a while on the paving.

ottaross,
@ottaross@mastodon.social avatar

Still storming outside and snow starting to accumulate on the asphalt too. Wind howling.

Going to disable the heating cycle tonight and not have the house cool down as it would usually do. If we lose power that's an extra few degrees of warmth in the bank, just in case.

Just checking the outlook for Wednesday/Thurs now and I see that system is forecast at about 46cm now!

Lots of at-or-above zero temps though, so maybe it'll melt as it goes along? Depends on the rate tho, and I suspect it'll be pretty intensive if we get that much over that short a period.
