Often times, tools like Trusted Tester certifications are not enough to prove how usable a product is until you truly put it in front of real users who can assess the validity of the software, services and platforms that companies are building. Please everyone, let's change the conversations when we are meeting with these companies. Are we buying into equal and equitable experiences with our purchases and how can we be assured of this? Transparency is crucial.
@JeffBishop yeah, submitting something to #ID24 about what you can learn from a VPAT or ACR by what isn't in it. I know only 6 people in the world will care but going to give it a shot anyway. they didn't kick me out at CSUN so let's do one on my own now
I want to see all of you presenting cool stuff (and making my bronze sponsorship look good as a result), but you won’t get that chance if you don’t submit to #id24 before Friday, 7 June. https://inclusivedesign24.org/2024/
Prior years are up there if you want to see the range of talks that have been accepted in the past. Most of them even showed up!
missive from the swimming pool: while i take a little break before all the stress starts, reminder that the #id24@inclusivedesign24 call for presentations is still open until 7 June https://inclusivedesign24.org/2024/ (and a side note: we pay our speakers for their time and effort, that's what most of our supporter money goes to) #accessibility#inclusiveDesign#a11y
Thank you to @inclusivedesign24 for their tremendous support not only of us and the whole NVDA community, but in organising the amazing #ID24#A11y conference, they are supporting everyone who values, uses or benefits from #Accessibility! Thank you also to all the speakers, co-hosts and attendees of the conference as well :)
amazed that some of the speakers were surprised about a recent missive from @inclusivedesign24 asking about payment details for their honorarium (with option to donate to a not-for-profit instead) for #id24 ... of course one of the main things we pride ourselves as a conference is that, regardless of how grassroots we are, we compensate our speakers for their time and effort :) #a11y#accessibility#inclusiveDesign
Try to watch the videos from the #id24 conference, but the whole ads thing annoys me a lot. this is not to blame #id24 but youtube. I don't want to earn 10k a month with your strange business idea.
Samstagabend, der Nachwuchs badet und ich schau mir während der Aufsicht mit dem einen freien Auge den sehr interessanten #id24 Beitrag "Disability is the MacGuffin of accessibility" an:
#ID24 may be over for 2023, but you can always keep it close to your heart (shirt), top of mind (beanie), ready at hand (mug), or anywhere you need it (sticker) by supporting @inclusivedesign24 through its merch store: https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/InclusiveDesign24
with all the wonderful talks at #id24 today, i'm now worrying that i need to get into the zone and up my game again for the upcoming #a11yTO next month. i'll be mainlining heroic doses of snarkotics to bring my usual style to the masses...
sadly, i'm not live on camera as host with @brucelawson during his current co-hosting stretch at #id24 (i'm the man behind the curtain, pulling all the tech levers). but we decided that having BOTH of us on screen at the same time would be too much gorgeousness...we didn't want to break the internets
